Jason Demetriou, former South Sydney coach, was officially named PNG Kumuls head coach, marking a major step forward in PNG’s bid for NRL inclusion.
Official announcement confirmed that a Papua New Guinea–based team will enter the NRL as the 19th franchise in the 2028 season.
UK-based players including Rhyse Martin, Edwin Ipape, Wellington Albert, McKenzie Yei, and Keven Appo joined the PNG Kumuls training camp ahead of the Pacific Championships.
